The board, staff and families of Evergreen Classical School subscribe to the fundamental beliefs of the Christian faith and agree with the following:
We affirm the Trinity
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is holy, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Governor of everything that has been made who works all things for His glory. (1 Cor 8:6)
We affirm Jesus was both God and Man
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory. (Phil 2:6-11, 1 John 3:16)
We affirm the deity of the Holy Spirit
We believe in the full deity of the Holy Spirit, acknowledging His work in creation and redemption, together with the Father and the Son. (John 14:26) We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (Rom 5:5, 1 Cor 3:16, Eph 4:30)
We affirm original sin
We believe that God created man in His image, but that because of Adam’s sin, all mankind is in rebellion against God with original sin. For the salvation of such lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary. (Gen 1:26, Rom 3:23)
We affirm Christ’s death and resurrection
We believe that Jesus Christ was crucified under Pontius Pilate, suffered death, was buried, and rose again on the third day. (Matt 27-28, Mark 15-16, Luke 23-24, John 19-20)
We affirm salvation by grace through faith
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith and that Christ’s death and resurrection is the atonement for our sins which allows us to have eternal life. We believe that faith without works is dead. (Eph 2:8,9)
We affirm Christ’s return
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved to the resurrection of life and they that are lost to the resurrection of damnation. (John 10:27-30, Rom 6:23, Matt 25:46)
We affirm the unity of God’s Church
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Eph 4:11-13, Eph 3:10, I Cor 12:27)
We affirm the authority of God’s word
We believe the Bible to be the only inerrant, authoritative Word of God. (2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Pet 1:20-21)
